DALLAS AREA RAPID TRANSIT - TRACK INSPECTION

DART - TRACK INSPECTION

Bison Rail Systems assists Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) in the inspection of yard and mainline light rail track, tracking bridges, tunnels, ballasted track, embedded track, and yard track.

Review of established DART track inspection guidelines and revise the track inspection guidelines, as needed, to comply with evolving track inspection requirements due to the use of synthetic cross ties, which were installed alongside existing wood and concrete ties. The DART track inspection manual was also revised to update safety procedures required for walking track inspections on all three work shifts and during revenue service, as well as during service outages.

Identify defects in track infrastructure and mark those defects for repair by track gangs. Record track defects and submit reports to the Manager of DART Track Maintenance.

Bison Rail Systems developed a track inspection training manual and delivers ongoing track inspection training using the training manual we developed.  Track inspection training consists of classroom instruction, followed by a two-day walking track inspection, covering territories assigned by the track department superintendent.
